GO Project2020-06-24T01:25:33+00:00

Welcome to The Global Orphan Project Fundraising Toolkit! Peer-to-peer fundraising allows you to start a fundraiser on behalf of GO Project. GO Project uses a technology called Classy for peer-to-peer fundraising. They are a secure donation site and you still get the 100% GO Project commitment: 100% of what you give to kids, goes to kids. When you start an individual or team fundraiser through Classy, you will get your own shareable fundraising page. Set a goal, track your progress and share with friends.

Fundraise for Orphan Prevention

As a ministry of the local church, our family-strengthening and orphan prevention program, Father’s Family, equips families with basic financial management skills, job skills and spiritual healing. Through its ability to strengthen families, Father’s Family has helped reunify children with their parents and extended family members.

The two-year training program places families into accountability groups of 15 families and 60 children who together learn subsistence farming, financial literacy, family counseling and religious character development.

In the three years since its inception in Uganda, Father’s Family has radically transformed entire communities throughout East Africa. Currently, Father’s Family provides training and wrap-around support to 465 families preventing over 1,800 children from becoming economic orphans.

Because of the program’s effectiveness, the ministry continues to expand quickly across all of our partners around the world. With your help of launching our first-ever peer-to-peer fundraising campaign, we hope to raise $180,000 to support 50 Father’s Family cohorts and impact 750 families, totaling 3,000 children.

Investing in a Father’s Family cohort covers:

  • Training Materials
  • Farming Resources
  • Incentives/Rewards
  • Social Worker Intervention

It only takes a minute to set up a campaign. And just like that, you’ll be ready to start raising money through your friends and family connections to strengthen families around the world.

Tips for a Successful Fundraiser

Be the first donor

Be a leader and others will follow. By making the first contribution, this will demonstrate your commitment to the cause!

Set a meaningful goal

Be clear about the amount you hope to raise and share how these funds will help make a difference. Don’t forget to share your progress! Your milestones will be motivators for giving. Visit the Orphan Prevention Classy page for examples of what your impact could be.

Reach out directly

Send some quick personal messages to your inner circle to build up momentum. Your friends and family are the ones most likely to support you, help spread the word and donate to your campaign.

Use social media

Post often, and post with photos or graphics to boost visibility. Posts can be about how much you’ve raised, tagging and thanking those that have donated, etc. Be creative!

Be positive, be personal

Regularly update your supporters about what you love about the Orphan Prevention program and what made you start this fundraiser.

Make it easy to give

Put the link to your fundraiser page in every social media post and email about your fundraiser. Having the link accessible makes the process quick and simple.

Make it tangible

Would a friend buy you a cup of coffee or take you to a movie? Suggest they can chip in $10 to your fundraiser instead.

Thank your donors

Thank each donor within a day or two of their gift. Again, make it positive and personal. Your thanks is their first reward for giving their time and money to support your fundraiser. Emails or a handwritten note do the trick.

Social media graphics

Download all our fundraising graphics. To download each graphic individually, open image, right-click and save. To save image on a phone, open image, hold-down and save image.

EMAIL SAMPLE

Dear [POTENTIAL DONOR NAME],

Did you know there are 153 million children worldwide identified as orphans and many of those children have least one surviving parent? Many times, this parent cannot financially support their child – these cases are known as economic orphans. That’s why The Global Orphan Project exists. Their mission is to break this orphan cycle through the power of community, commerce and the love of Jesus.

As a ministry of the local church, GO Project’s family-strengthening and orphan prevention program equips families with basic financial management skills, job skills and spiritual healing. Through its ability to strengthen families, the initiative has helped reunify children with their parents and extended family members.

Today, I’ve made a commitment to empower and strengthen vulnerable children and families.

I’m raising money for The Global Orphan Project, to make sure that families have the wrap-around support they need to become self-sufficient, active community members, and prevent more children from entering the orphan cycle. [ADDITIONAL CUSTOMIZATION.]

That’s why I’m united with The Global Orphan Project. Won’t you join me?

Your gift, of any size, towards my fundraiser will get me closer to my goal. I hope you’ll join me today.

With hope,

[YOUR NAME]
