A Different December for Refugees
Meet Joumana. After suffering under ISIS and losing her husband in the the Syrian war, Joumana and her children, Fatme and Moustafa, found themselves among the more than 1.5 million refugees working to piece a life together in Lebanon.
Watch this short video to hear Joumana’s story:
Joumana’s experience has been different from thousands of women and children with a story similar to her own. Her life is still difficult, but her story is full of gratitude and a passion for helping others who have yet to receive the same kind of hope she has.
We are inspired by Pastor Mohammad and his team at Tyre Church. Every day, they work to show the love of Christ by providing education, medical care, counseling, emergency care, homes, family and spiritual hope to orphans, widows and refugees in their communities. Along with a growing network of churches in Jordan, Egypt and Syria, they are bright lights in their communities.
“Every time I visit the Middle East, I’m amazed by the resiliency of the refugees and by the love that’s being poured out on them by the local church.”
— Jake Barreth, Director of International Ministry
No matter where you live or what your story, you can play a role in stories like Joumana’s. Thank you to every person who visited, who prayed and who gave this year to empower local churches to meet the basic needs of orphaned children and refugee families in their communities. We can’t wait to see what God has planned in 2019!
