Celebrating caring for kids. Celebrating The GO Exchange!
GO Project launched The GO Exchange in the 2012 Christmas season with a single product: GO Jammies. In two months, 107 women around the country hosted in-home Exchanges. More than 5,000 GO Jammies were sold! This past weekend we wanted to thank and honor the women who invited people into their homes to share the story of orphaned and abandoned children.
Last year the Exchange netted profits of just over $63,000. Mike Mitchell (President of The GO Exchange) presented Mike and Beth Fox and The Global Orphan Project with a check that will go towards the care of orphaned and abandoned children. Specifically, these funds will pay for 69 children in Haiti to go to secondary school; for the 24/7 care of 58 orphaned children in Phnom Penh, Cambodia; and for the 24/7 care of 60 children in Village Altonodji, Chad, Africa. These profits are covering the care for these 187 children for the entire YEAR of 2013!
With the close of the first season, excitement builds with the expansion of the Spring 2013 line and the addition of two fashion designers…
Paula Coles, who designs a signature line of women’s bags, clutches, and apparel that renowned fashion designer, Donna Karan, features in her collection, traveled from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to join us. While Paula’s talents have opened her life to big things, Paula’s heart pours out for the little. She loves children. She uses her gifts to bless orphaned and vulnerable children. To play a role in their hope and future.
Liz Bohannon started Sseko (meaning “laughter” in local language) sandals as a way to bless the makers – bright young Ugandan women who earn money to pay for college – and bless the buyers – with unique, stunning sandals. Sseko has taken off as a one-of-a-kind sandal brand overflowing with joy. Liz’s husband/business partner, Ben, shared their passion to serve the world’s vulnerable children and announce that Sseko has decided to join The GO Exchange!
Without question, Exchange Hosts drive this venture. With what happened with just over 100 Exchange Hosts, we dream of what could happen if 1,000 or 10,000 joined the movement. How many hearts can we touch? Through this growing network of women, lives are changed beyond our ability to predict or imagine.
