Cholera Update
As promised, here is an update on Haiti, Cholera, and the children we all care about so much.
Since news of Cholera broke, we have been in constant contact with our field partners in Haiti. They understand what Cholera is, what to look for, and what to do if a child comes down with symptoms. We celebrate that our children have been protected so far! If Cholera hits any of our homes, we have plans in place to respond quickly and effectively. Obviously this is real and serious. It deserves our prayer and attention, and it is getting that on a daily basis.
Some of the press coverage has been overblown, but one of the good things about all the attention is it attracts resources and medical personnel. We can’t know exactly when and how the Cholera outbreak ends, but we re encouraged by the global response and more recent reports of containment.
Earlier today a big-hearted friend wrote saying that he had this heavy feeling that children in the midst of a Cholera outbreak were “sitting ducks.” That feeling is understandable, but our GO Project children do not sit uncovered. Your fervent prayer, the attention of their caretakers, and most importantly, their Father s love serve to protect them. Our hope is that the worst is over, If that’s not the case, we’ll keep you updated here. Either way, we invite you to pray with us for continued healing in Haiti.
