Haiti – "Top 10 things to do"
We are heading to Haiti in a couple of days. Seventeen of us are traveling together on this 4 day journey to spend precious time with several hundred kids living in various C3 Missions homes. I believe this particular trip will mark my sixth travel to Haiti. Six times to Haiti in a little over 2 years. Wow!
I genuinely love these trips. The reason why is hard to explain. Those who have traveled with me fully understand. Haiti does something to you. Something seemingly unforgettable.
Maybe. . . it’s simply knowing that each time I go and give a little bit more of myself to the children I am really doing something. Something really good.
Maybe. . . it’s simply knowing that in a country of only eight and a half million people there are literally thousands of orphaned and abandoned children living without food or shelter.
Maybe . . .it’s knowing that in a country where roughly half the population still practice voodoo I can still witness God’s love among the children.
Maybe. . . it’s knowing that 585 Haitian kids today are living in a C3 children’s home because of ordinary people like you and me.
Maybe, just maybe, I love going to Haiti just to be with these kids who unknowingly bless my life by just being who they are.
If you haven’t been to Haiti, put it on your list of “top ten things to do.” If you have been to Haiti, I can only assume you have it on your list of things to “do again.”
