The Heart of Christmas
At GO Project, we believe that God releases transformational power when the Local Church, fueled by Christ’s Love and firmly rooted in God’s Word, sacrifices to care for orphans in their community.
Since we formally launched Adopt|KC in 2012, we have been overwhelmed to learn that God has long been at work unleashing that power through His Church in the U.S. before any non-profits or para-church ministries like ours were invited to join in… And, He is doing it through what many would consider the most unlikely churches in the most unlikely places.
In a film posted by Walmart Corporation on Friday, Dec. 14th (the morning of the “Newton Massacre”), called “Getting to Heart of Christmas,” God reveals His power to transform lives when local churches obey and trust Him as they care for orphans in their community.
As you watch the video, consider this:
1) Is God inviting your church to sacrifice and care for orphaned and abandoned children in your neighborhood, city or community? To learn more, go to AdoptKC.org.
2) Celebrate alongside our brothers and sisters at Bennett Chapel. Remember, our hope is not in what the local church can do for orphans, our hope is that The Heart of Christmas was born a long time ago in a town that few had ever heard of, to a people group that the world had dismissed as irrelevant. He came to be abandoned so that we could be adopted. And He is alive and present in places like Possum Trot, TX.
Is local church based care of orphans transformational?
YES!
But only when Jesus is at its core!
