A Trip into the Orphan Window
As you respond to God working in your life and venture into the orphan window to truly live James 1:27, it’s fascinating how perspective changes. Before, you were immune to the orphan and the needs of the communities in Haiti caring for them in children’s homes. After, each child has a name and a face…a memory, a story to share. Before, you had little context for understanding any version of the daily life of an orphan in Haiti. After, you carry respect for mamas and love for the pastors who are deep in the trenches of God’s heart for the orphan. Before, it was easy to avoid pouring into the communities through donations. After, you feel an unavoidable, deep desire to ‘do more.’
For Biggarouse, that could look like many things in the form of supporting the life care or education costs per month, to much bigger projects like their latrine replacement that is expected to improve the overall health of the children and reduce the number of infections contracted through the facilities. Whatever it may look like for you, know that God is calling you to respond to His heart for the orphan in a unique way that only you can truly discern.
