The strength of the Church network | CarePortal
One request, two states and the Church network worked together to help reunify one six-year-old girl with her father.
Request #46532 came in from California for a bed, bedding and a dresser for six-year-old Tiana who had been in foster care for four years. Her father in Florida had been working hard to get his life together so he could provide for his daughter, but he needed these items to be reunified.
Our local Area Directors in CA and FL worked together to input and share the need with the local FL network, where it was immediately met by nearby churches.
Not only did the churches meet the need, but they went above and beyond bringing a bed, bedding, a dresser, clothes, books and backpack. Not just for Tiana, but her stepsister as well so she did not feel left out. This little girl was able to reunify with her father as a result of the generosity and care of the local church.
“This shows the strength of the Church network working together across the country to serve kids and families!” said Rebekah Weigel, Southern California Area Director.
The social worker was moved by how quickly the network organized to get this family what they needed.
“I just wanted to let everyone know how grateful I am to have the opportunity to have worked with you during the return of this child. I was touched by how quickly and willingly you jumped into action to help. The father has expressed his gratitude over and over for how much was given to them. Thank you again so very very much!” said Glori Smiley, MACP.
