Where ever we go
Earlier this morning, Kristin and I heard about a conversation where a person said they worshipped the Chinese god. A few hours later, we found ourselves worshipping Jesus with Christ Church Shamian Guangdong. I am no expert in the difference between the house church movement and the national church movement here. I can only talk about what I saw and heard in the hour-plus bilingual service: praise songs, the Word of God being read, the Body being exhorted to let go of that which bound us so that we could live freely for Jesus, and so it was all around the world today.
The name of Jesus was being praised and the Gospel was being preached at Bethel Gospel Church, Hyderabad, India, at Salima Baptist in Malawi, at the Cathedral, Church of Uganda, Kabale, at Restoracion in the DR, at Source de la Grace, Haiti…in English, Mandarin, Telegu, Swahili, Lugandan, Spanish, Kreyol, and more…much more!
In Psalm 139, David sings about the presence of the Lord being everywhere. Jesus is not an American God. Christianity is not an American religion. His Body is stronger, His Bride more beautiful than we can know, but we can know this…wherever we go, for all those who call on the Name above all names, Jesus is there!
