What's (still) in a uniform
At the BIG Event in 2012, this video took us to Uganda to answer the question: What’s in a (school) uniform? Access to education. Jobs for tailors. Dignity. “Sew” much more than meets the eye. This June, I went back to one of the sewing centers featured in the video. I saw my friend, Jeffry, there. He was doing well, still working, and providing for his family.
School starts soon in many parts of the world. Thousands of children going to our church partners’ primary schools will once again need uniforms, and once again, many families in the community will not be able to afford one. Local tailors still need jobs. Pathways students in Haiti need training.
Will you please help give the gift of education? A $20 donation to purchase a school uniform makes it GO.
As we, once again, have the privilege of asking, I’m reminded of a quote from Margaret Thatcher: “Of course it’s the same old story. Truth usually is…” Thank you for investing in the lives of children in need! It’s a privilege to partner with you in their care.
