Update on Haitian Earthquake | Jake Barreth, Director of International Ministry
At 8:11 PM last night, (Oct 6, 2018) a 5.9 magnitude Earthquake hit just off of Haiti’s northern coast. We thank the Lord none of GO Project’s church partners suffered any damage and that every child is safe and accounted for.
Tremors were felt throughout the country, including in Port-au-Prince and Croix-des-Bouquets, where LIFE S.A. and the GO Guesthouse are located. The leaders of GO Haiti and LIFE were quick to respond stating that they and their staff are safe. As is stands, it appears that no damage has been sustained by the GO Guesthouse or the LIFE S.A. sewing facility.
While the majority of damage has been isolated to the north of Haiti, it has been reported that a number of homes have been completely destroyed and at least a dozen lives have been lost. We are heartbroken for the loss of life and the families who have been affected. We serve a loving, sovereign God who cares deeply for the nation of Haiti and its people. We trust in God’s goodness and know that He co-suffers with His creation.
Please join us praying for comfort over the families who have experienced such devastating losses and in giving thanks for the protection over GO Project’s church partners.
