The ultimate CarePortal story: from a single transactional request to a life-changing home
Every CarePortal request presents the opportunity for churches to make meaningful connections. Sometimes, connection means meeting one need at just the right moment. At other times, connection starts life-changing relationships like for one single mom of nine kids in Kansas City.
It all started with a request to pay a water bill to avoid eviction, and before you know it, this adorable family was engulfed in multiple CarePortal relationships and moved into a single-family home they can call their own.
The kids finally have their own rooms and furniture. The mom is now able to seat the whole family around the dining table. The church that responded to the request, World Harvest Church, continues to provide the family with love, support and care.
Below are some snapshots of the family seeing their beautiful new home for the first time!
Powerful stories like this one are written when the Church and the community come together to provide wrap-around support to vulnerable kids and families. We are so grateful for every church that has stepped up to say “yes” to connections that can change lives, transform communities and reverse the foster care crisis in our nation. Because every child matters.
When we respond to CarePortal requests, we go expecting to meet a need, but often leave discovering that a need of ours has been revealed. There is always potential for transformation. This won’t happen every time, but the heart of CarePortal is this: to experience Jesus through real, meaningful connection with our neighbors.
