The Power of Prayer
“She (my mother) became a warrior far superior to any epic hero. She became a giant on her knees. With a sword in one hand she battled the enemies of death and disease, and with her other hand stretched toward heaven she kept beseeching God’s help and His mercy.” Bishop T.D. Jakes.
For the first 48 months of CarePortal, the network of participating churches served 40,000 children.
We had a wonderful woman on our team in Arizona, Sue Baird. A courageous woman of prayer. Sue went to war in the heavens for children. Many others did, too. But Sue… Her heart… Her faith… Her ferocity… She’s as dangerous as she is humble.
Sue got us stirred. What if? What if we got more intentional with prayer? What if we built into CarePortal the opportunity for prayer warriors, like Sue, to pray over particular needs for particular families and children?
We did that 18 months ago, and asked Sue to get the prayer fire lit. On November 30, we hit 1,000 specific prayer commitments. And guess what? During 18 months with 1,000 intentional prayer commitments, the network of churches grew dramatically and served 40,000 children.
48 months = 40,000 children.
Prayer.
18 months = 40,000 children.
Now we’re really fired-up! What if we mobilize and organize 100,000 prayer warriors? What if we mobilize and organize the world’s largest prayer circle around the heroic children whom we get to serve? What would happen in this nation? In our world?
God willing, that’s what we’re aiming at going forward with some special prayer partners.
To Sue Baird… To the first 1,000… Thank you! You’re epic.
When we respond to CarePortal requests, we go expecting to meet a need, but often leave discovering that a need of ours has been revealed. There is always potential for transformation. This won’t happen every time, but the heart of CarePortal is this: to experience Jesus through real, meaningful connection with our neighbors.
