The Circle
From a member of the GO Project Family…
Each day I think about all the things I could do for God and how we can do more for His kids. I’m thinking about projects, and planning ways to execute new programs to raise more money, to build channels of communication…and then God strips away the pride, and humbles me.
Sunday was one of those humbling days. I was stopped after the 9:15 service by Jose’. Jose’ told me that the people of Haiti were on his heart. He heard of their stories after the earthquake and felt like he had to do something. He handed me an envelope. Inside it was $230 he raised to help the orphans in our care.
Jose’ is five years old.
After telling his parents last January that “we should do something,” he started saving his allowance from daily chores. He stored up his savings in a special box that would hold his earnings until he had “enough” to give.
But, there is more to the story. You see, Jose’ was born in Guatemala and was once an orphan himself. By the grace of God, he was brought to his new parents here in Kansas City. God has instilled in him a desire to help others, just as God rescued him.
An orphan boy, born 2000 miles away in Guatemala, rescued by God, raises money to help other orphan boys and girls 2000 miles away, in Haiti.
Try planning that.
