Smiles in Rain – Another Day in Haiti
Trace Thurlby, Live from Haiti
We took our bus to Leogane today. The first amazing thing about that is – we have a bus! Earlier this year, it took a group effort just to buy two cell phones in Haiti. Oh, the mountains that moved to bring this bus. We’re grateful! We loaded 27 on it this morning to attend worship at Moise’s church, Source De La Grace. Two+ hours of standing room only, Gospel-centered worship. What a blessing!
This afternoon we visited Leogane. It’s not an easy place to visit, primarily because it’s located near the epicenter of the quake. The sight of fallen homes and tent communities brought tears to our team, but amidst the sobering reality, stands our faithful friend, Pastor Jean Claude. We prayed with Jean Claude and played with 80 kids that live with him.
Now, back at the OTV, it’s raining about as hard as it can. Not good for the country, but in typical GO Project style, many on our team are making the best of it…running through pond-sized mud puddles with our kids who are laughing and loving it.
Hope amidst destruction, smiles in rain – that’s what we see here during just “another day” in Haiti.
