Last week, we told you about Olivia Gates who went to her brother’s “Birthday Party for Orphans” last year and decided to throw her own. Continuing the generosity, Austin recently told me about his recent party. 15 buddies at PAC playing dodge ball, soccer, and kickball; complete with throwback shirts vs. skins teams — old school! Love it. Everyone had a blast, but here’s the best part: at the end of the day, the kids pooled their resources to care for one child who needs friends for a whole year — just like Olivia and her crew.
The author of Hebrews exhorts us to “consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” That’s what Austin and Olivia are doing. Setting aside the traditional sibling focus on beating each other, wet willies and Indian burns, Austin and Olivia are working together to honor God and care for His kids. How cool is that?
Happy Birthday, Austin and Olivia!
