Playing a small part
Istrouma Baptist Church in Louisiana has been partnering with churches in Haiti to help care for kids for several years now. They also send teams, and on their most recent trip to Haiti they celebrated and welcomed a new sister in Christ…
“Over the past 3-1/2 years Istrouma has sent out 10 mission teams to Haiti. Some of these trips have been just Istrouma folks and some a mix of people from different states. All the trips God has blessed and protected us. He has allowed us to be a blessing to the children of Haiti and for them to be a blessing to us. We’ve been able to build a water well and dorms for Orphans in Desire.
As we prepare to return home I’ve got to exclaim that God is awesome. On this trip a young women from the north was part of the team. She came alone seeking a mission trip experience. She’s a talented musician and she used this talent to share music with the orphan children. They marveled at how she created such beautiful a melody. On Saturday as she started to play for the children she was overcome with emotion. The Lord was working on her heart. Before we left for Haiti I asked many people to pray for her as Christ placed her on my heart. This morning around 12:45 a.m. Jay from Istrouma led her through the life changing decision of accepting Jesus into her heart. She joyfully accepted Christ. Jay came into the room and woke me up to tell me the good news. I’m in awe of the power of Jesus and how quickly he worked in her heart.
This morning she was baptized in the salt waters of the Caribbean. Jay got the honor of baptizing our new sister in Christ. We return home having loved orphans in Haiti. We also return home having been a small part of Jesus changing a heart and bringing a spiritual orphan to His side. God is good.”
