Partner Spotlight: Faith Church
At The Global Orphan Project, we love our front row seat to witness life change around the world. God brings that transformation in more ways than we can keep track of, and one of the most tangible and exciting ways is through church partnerships.
Nine years ago, Faith Church in Fort Collins, Colorado began praying and looking for opportunities to serve children in Haiti. After discovering GO Project and meeting our local church partners, Faith began to invest in our partners’ ministry through prayer, presence and partnership. We’ve watched how the leaders and members of Faith Church have pursued intentional partnership with local Haitian leaders, hoping to listen and to learn how to best come alongside their efforts. We are encouraged and challenged by this church’s long-term commitment — both relational and financial — to children who need family.
Chris Conradson, GO Project trip leader and Faith Church member, describes their partnership with Haitian churches as transformational for his church:
“We began sending teams to minister to children through friendship, Bible stories, sharing the gospel, English activities and any creative way to engage kids and build relationships. The impact of those trips on the people from Faith is almost immeasurable. What starts as the willingness to be used by God to minister to children, ends up being a ministry to the person who goes on the trip. God teaches them about Himself by revealing His love through the children that a team member engages with. I’ve heard countless stories from team members over the years of how impactful the trip was on their own journey with Jesus. Their perception of God in the world is expanded beyond the walls of what they defined as their own comfortable place in the world. God is alive and active — even in some of the most difficult places and situations. We weep with those who are hurting, and we rejoice with those experiencing great joy.
A good handful of Faith trip members have developed long-lasting relationships with some of those kids we have gotten to know, love and care for over the years. We’ve seen broken, hurting children become fruitful, healthy young adults in the span of time we’ve been blessed as a church to serve in Haiti. You have to have a long view of ministry. You cannot expect to rush in, make a difference and expect it to last. Faith’s long view for ministry has allowed us to experience mountaintop highs and a series of deep-valley lows. But through it all, God has been faithful, and I would say that the people of Faith who have participated in the ministry in Haiti over the years have their own deeper walk with Jesus as a result.”
Faith Church, it has been our joy to watch lives change – both in Fort Collins and across Haiti – because of your partnership and presence. Thank you! We can’t wait to see what God does next.
