New Growth in Gulu

Gulu, an area ravaged by HIV/AIDS and a 20-plus year civil war, is beginning to see new growth. GO Project’s partner, the Church of Uganda, began caring for kids in need of family here earlier this year. The local church also had a large plot of prime agricultural land, where 3 weeks ago they planted 2 acres of sunflowers. You can see the new plants in the photo below! Rev. James said the crop got a late start due to the rains not coming right when they were planted, but they are hopeful the sunflowers will catch up during the growing season, which is now until mid-December.
