Some myGO Projects are team-oriented. This means that groups of people fundraise for a project together. Find a team to join or support below.
Hello there! My name is Michael Sugihara and I am a current undergraduate student at Cornell Univeristy, from Skokie, Illinois. This team is made up of other Cornell students who are also passionate about serving kids!
Originally, this team was started with the idea of raising support for orphans through a variety of avenues, and specifically exercise. The hope is to be able to share about the realities of orphans around the world, and gain support by humbling asking others to join in by sponsoring me and others as we engage in running/biking/or other events. As the weeks progress, the plan is to develop other new and exciting ways to not only fundraise, but also just be able to share about the amazing opportunity that we all have to serve kids. In the end, whether it is walking/running for miles or simply walking across the street to share with a neighbor, we can all take steps (no matter how small) to make an impact. My hope and prayer is that as we all do so, those small steps multiply and grow into Miles for Orphans.
I had the absolute pleasure of joining my friend Barrett Keene this summer for Go Walk America (follow and support him at gowalkamerica.org!) and work as a GO Threads Intern, and learned much about the GO Project and orphan care. As mentioned earlier, serving children is a true passion of ours, and being involved with the GO Project and specifically the Team Challenge, is a spectacular way for us to do so!
This October, I also had the privilege of traveling to Haiti to see first-hand the work that the GO Project is involved with and was so encouraged and challenged. Not only do they aim to provide care to orphans, but through initiatives like GO Threads, GO Project truly desires to build up and empower local churches and communities to take ownership of caring for their children. Lives, whether kids and adults, are truly being changed in remarkable ways and I am blessed to be able contribute in whatever way I can. Please consider partnering with this team, Miles for Orphans, in serving kids! All it takes is $20 to radically transform a child’s life 🙂
