More from House of Hope in Haiti

Another beautiful day in Haiti. Clearly, it is going to be a hot day today.
The team awoke up at 4 am this morning because the children were awake and singing at the top of their lungs. 4 am! They have no clue what time it is – only that it is time to wake up and worship.
Yesterday was a great day. The house Mamas who care for the 125 orphans at the Orphan Transitional Village never have a day off. They work around the clock caring for these kids. When the children are in school, they wash clothes. Every day, they wash clothes for more than 100 children – by hand! So, one of our jobs this week is to help the Mamas take some time off during the day to start a house Mamas Bible Study. To allow them a little break – we are washing the clothes this week. Yesterday, we had six huge buckets of soapy water and we washed clothes. It was great for everyone. You get the feeling that if Jesus were physically present in Haiti, he would be washing orphan’s clothes.
In the afternoon we went to Julie’s orphanage. We had a wonderful time playing with the kids. They are amazing singers and they sang, danced, raised their hands, beat on empty water jugs for nearly an hour. It was the most refreshing worship I have personally experienced in some time. The highlight came when Julie shared her story with the group. She has lived a hard life and the earthquake just added to it.
After she shared her story, the House of Hope girls gathered around her, laid hands on her and prayed for her. It was a picture of Gospel grace as troubled broken girls who want to be used by the Lord prayed for a troubled broken woman who is being used by the Lord. It was emotional to say the least.
We returned to the OTV around 6:30 – had dinner and then played with the kids for another hour before starting the bead ceremony.
All in all – it was a great exhausting draining Spirit filled day. Can’t wait for tomorrow.
