Below you'll find frequently asked questions about GO Project Vision and Specialized Trips.

Can I purchase my own plane tickets?

No, we will purchase all tickets so that everyone arrives in Haiti (and leaves Haiti) at the same time on the same flight.

How do I sign up for a trip?

The first thing to do is look at the Trip Calendar to see what trips are available, and then Contact us. Someone from our staff will respond and work with you to get your trip registered.

I don’t have my passport yet, can I still register for a trip?

Yes, fill in 0′s on the Trip Registration Form and send an email with your passport number when it arrives.

How much does a Vision Trip cost?

There is a deposit of $705 for trips to Port au Prince, $765 for trips to Gonaives and Les Cayes, Haiti. Vision Trips to Uganda starts at $1,000, but price may vary due to travel season, length of stay and trip destination. In addition to the deposit, you will pay all airfare costs. $100 of all trip fees are non-refundable.

What does the trip deposit cover?

All lodging and meals in Haiti or Uganda, in-country travel, travel insurance, and an administrative fee.

When do we pay and how?

You will receive an invoice for the deposit after your registration is received. You will receive a 2nd invoice for the remaining balance after your airfare is purchased (3-6 weeks before your trip). The total amount is due 2 weeks before the trip. You can pay through the Pay For A Trip page on our website. You can also send in a check to: The Global Orphan Project, Attn: Finance, 6114 N 9 Highway, Parkville, MO 64152 with your Trip Start Date and Trip Leader in the memo line.

Do I need to purchase travel insurance?

No, we purchase insurance through Gallagher Charitable International Insurance Services. Coverage includes emergency medical coverage.

Do I need to get immunizations?

Please consult with a medical professional and make sure to have all appropriate immunizations and medications prior to your trip. Read more about the documented shots and vaccinations for traveling to Haiti and Uganda HERE>>

What do I need to pack in my 50lb bag(s)?

Each person is allowed 1 50 lb. bag. Your trip leader will let you know in advance of more specific information and needs applicable to your trip. You can view a packing list for Haiti HERE and a packing list for Uganda HERE.

Can I bring toys for the kids?

The only toys to take are those that can be used by multiple children – jump ropes, balls, Frisbees, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, nail polish, etc.

Do I need to bring snacks?

In Haiti most people only eat breakfast and dinner. We will do the same, so you may want to have snacks available for lunchtime. Make sure you bring snacks that won’t melt, like granola bars.

Do you ever send medical teams to Haiti?

We do not have any medical trips scheduled at this time. Our ministry partners in Haiti have taken over this responsibility.

Where do you travel to?

Currently GO Project Vision and Private Trips go to both Haiti and Uganda. Please CONTACT US if you are interested in going on a trip.

Is there an age requirement?

Families interested in bringing children will be handled on a case by case basis. Please contact us at or 816.536.8333 during regular office hours (Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm) to discuss further with our trip coordinator.

Can we stay in Haiti longer than the normal Vision Trip?

We are not able to accommodate longer trips at this time.

Is it safe?

Safety is always our first priority. For the Port au Prince trip, The Jumecourt Inn is surrounded by a 6 ft high wall and there are guards posted at the gate. When traveling around the country, we will not go to areas that we think are unsafe.

Do I need to register with the State Department?

No, we will take of that for the entire group.

Who will my trip leader be?

Your trip leader will be someone who is very familiar with The Global Orphan Project and has traveled to Haiti with us in the past. You should hear from them about 4 weeks before your trip.
