Organization Description

The GO Exchange (GOEX) is the for-profit, job creation initiative of The Global Orphan Project, a Kansas City based non-profit caring for kids world-wide. GOEX is a two-year old apparel company with a manufacturing facility in Haiti providing high-wage jobs. Kansas City is home to management staff, warehousing and a screen print shop. GOEX is currently in a high growth mode.

Position Description

JOB TITLE: Senior Manager of Finance & Accounting

REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer

SUMMARY: Position is responsible for the management of the financial, fiscal and reporting aspects of the Kansas City based GOEX and Haiti based Life SA businesses. Provides organizational leadership and direction in the areas of: expense control, accounting, and fiscal budgeting.


  • Cash Flow Management:
    • Cash flow projections for all business segments
    • Credit management – establish customer credit limits & approvals
    • AR Collections – monitor receivables, credit limits and aging reports
    • Negotiate terms from vendors and suppliers
  • General Accounting
    • Financial statement preparation and analysis
    • Manage Payroll including sales commission calculations
    • Establish weekly payables schedule
    • Reconcile balance sheet & inter-company accounts
    • Perform month end bank reconciliations
    • Oversee direct reports
  • Financial Reporting
    • Ensure financial statements are timely, accurate and GAAP compliant
    • Work with outside financial auditors to complete annual audit
    • Accurate and timely month end closing of financials
    • Monthly, Quarterly and Annual P&Ls
  • Budgeting
    • Establish and implement annual fiscal budgeting process including timelines and related prep packet materials
    • Report accurate results vs established forecasts with monthly financial reports
  • Dotted line responsibilities:
    • Collegiate licensing – timely and accurate reporting and payment of institutional royalty payments
    • Review integrations with finance software
    • Some HR functions including benefits administration and pay scale reviews


  • Familiarity with QuickBooks preferred
  • Experience in the corporate/for-profit sector preferred; retail or manufacturing history ideal
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Diligent and able to complete tasks in a timely fashion
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and exhibits confidence in interacting with upper management
  • Maintains courteous, professional and effective relationships with associates at all levels of the organization
  • Able to adapt quickly to change and to function in a fast-paced, start-up environment
  • Possess strong time management and organizational skills.
