Being Here
From video teleconferencing to webinars, from Skype to FaceTime, society has tried hard to replace the in-person meeting. While those are all good tools, it is still true that no substitute exists for Being Here.
Skype can’t help me understand what the African rainy season does to dirt roads. FaceTime can’t lose our luggage. Webinars can’t simulate power outages. Virtual life isn’t the same as real life.
In real life, Sam (pictured) and I are welcomed by the warm hugs and smiles of Peter Maseko and family. We wake to the sound of an African rain on a tin roof, eat breakfast by candlelight, and share some of the day with a beautiful little child napping in your lap.
There’s more to share about life here in Malawi at Pothawira…the school, the clinic, the growing community, but for now, we’re grateful to be here and consider it a privilege to serve in this ministry with you.
