A family and church family caring for children in Brownwood
This April, GO Project partnered with Bishop Aaron Blake to help local churches in Texas provide family for children in need. Caring for children without family was nothing new to Bishop Blake. Ten years ago, he and his church opened their hearts and their homes. This faithful church of less than 200 members became family to scores of children previously living in the foster care system.
Bishop Blake’s expertise in helping churches care for orphans has been a blessing. As he helps equip local congregations with the knowledge and resources required to care for orphaned and abandoned children, God has been stirring many more to open their hearts and homes as well. This week a couple in Brownwood, Texas, welcomes four children into their family. We celebrate with them, and are grateful to be a small part of what God is doing through the local church in Texas and around the world to provide family for children in need.
“One of the answers to changing the outcomes of thousands of children is the church. The heartbeat of God is to care for widows (broken families) and orphans.” – Bishop Aaron Blake
