A business man helping others reach their dreams in Africa
Children catalyze change. The Lord’s pounding home that theme on my trip.
I told you about the cafe owner yesterday. Today I met with a gifted guy from Mississippi, doing business in Kampala. He once worked for KPMG. Now he’s running a shoe manufacturing business – the largest shoe exporter in Uganda. (Fantastic company.)
I asked him how he got started down this path. He and his wife went to serve orphaned children stricken by AIDS in South Africa. He had a collision with Christ in those children. And stuff started happening out from there.
While in South Africa, some local businessmen found out about his finance background. One wanted some business help. Then another. Then another. A new passion – a call – got birthed: helping entrepreneurs in developing countries reach their dreams.
Now here he is, helping 32 women earn a better life through great work with a great company.
These kids truly do ruin us for the average.
